5 Simple Steps To Writing A PA School Essay
Writing an essay for P.A. School can be difficult initially because you must summarize who you are in 500 to 750 words. You may think, “This is easy,” but for some people, it’s not because you must get straight to the point but make it interesting enough for people to want to continue reading your essay.
The most common question they will ask is…You Guessed It…

WHY DO YOU WANT TO BECOME A PA?
Don’t give generic answers such as; I want to make money, help people, I didn’t get into med school, etc. YES, people say that in interviews and essays because they think their resume and school experience will be enough for them to get into school.
Here are a few topics to write about in your essay:
- Medical experience (at a job, volunteering, internship)
- Personal experience (health-related – family, friends, or yourself)
- Hardships (helped you to become the person you are today- tie back into medicine)
Recommendations on how to organize your essay:
- 1st sentence must catch the person's attention to make them continue reading
- Each paragraph must flow into the next paragraph
- The last paragraph must summarize the essay and why that experience will help you become a great PA
Bonus Essay Tips:📢
- Make 2 essays you can utilize for the main essay because some schools may ask a different question for the main essay, such as:
Why do you want to come to our PA program?
Tell me about yourself and an experience that made you become a PA item
- Tell me about yourself and an experience that made you become a PA item
- Why do you want to come to our PA program?
- If you see multiple questions repeated on CASPA for PA Schools, you should write it in a word doc, save it, and copy and paste it for each school
- Ask multiple people to read your essay, not just people in the medical field
- Not everyone reading your paper may be in the medical field
- You must reflect who you are on paper so they would want to meet you in person item
REMEMBER 🧐, YOUR ESSAY WILL GET TO THE DOOR, BUT YOUR INTERVIEW WILL GET YOU IN THE DOOR!
